You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao [e-book]

You’ve Reached Sam is a young adult romance novel written by Dustin Thao. Seventeen-year old Julie has her life planned out, move out to college with her boyfriend Sam, and spend a summer in Japan. But then Sam dies. And everything is forever changed. Heartbroken, Julie skips his funeral and tries her hardest to forget Sam. But a message Sam left in her yearbook brings memories back. Desperate to hear his voice just one more time, Julie calls Sam’s phone to listen to his voicemail. Except Sam picks up the phone. Julie’s been given a second chance at goodbye. The connection is temporary, but hearing his voice makes her fall for him all over again. Keeping it a secret isn’t easy, and Julie has to watch Sam’s family feel the loss, meanwhile she has been talking to him. Julie is torn between spilling the truth about her connection or risk loosing him forever.

The characters in this book were great, you get to see a family going through it all with the recent loss of their son, and Julie, who appears unaffected by lose because she's found a way to talk to him again. Julie is just a heartbroken girl who tried to block Sam out of her life after his death. But somehow loved ones will always sneak their way back into your heart. It was interesting to see each conversation and memory between both of them and to see how loosing someone you love affects your life heavily. This book was amazing, yet very sad at the same time. It was a absolutely heart wrenching book that showed the struggle of grief. It was a sweet sentimental story that's easy to fall in love with. It is a emotional journey, but I enjoyed it all the way. I would definitely recommend this book!
