Local History and Genealogy

Are you interested in the history of Kingston and Frontenac County? Are you looking for Kingston-Frontenac resources to help grow your family tree?

Our local history collection is housed on the second floor of our newly-renovated Central Branch, in the historic "Bishop's House." Our collections include microfilm, city directories, fire insurance plans and the collection of the Kingston Branch of Ontario Ancestors (formerly the Ontario Genealogical Society). We also hold a number of items from the collection of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada (UELAC).

In addition, many local history tools and resources are waiting to be discovered in our Digital Kingston website. Key features include indexes to historic Kingston newspapers and to Historic Kingston (the journal of the Kingston Historical Society), a growing number of special exhibits, and a page of Quick Links to the most frequently used genealogy resources.
